Newborns have tested positive. It is not totally known if infection occurred prior to delivery, at delivery or after delivery. Fortunately most newborns who are positive have no or few symptoms. Most important is to focus on maternal health and to keep in touch with your doctor until you are better. READ MORE
What helps you get pregnant?
At 29, you are young. As long as you and your partner are healthy and you are having regular menstrual cycles, you should be able to conceive. Timing ovulation with a kit (any pharmacy can have one) can help speed things up. If you are having trouble after a year, then you should see your ob/gyn or reproductive endocrinologist. Practical things that help are eating a healthy diet, exercise, weight loss if needed, avoiding habits such as smoking and excess alcohol. Hope this helps. READ MORE
How does breastfeeding affect your body?
Affects you in mostly good ways. Right after delivery it helps contract the uterus and reduce uterine bleeding. It will suppress ovulation and provide temporary birth control (must be regularly feeding), quicker weight loss. It does require extra calories and calcium so if you don’t supplement with calcium rich food and vitamins you will lose some bone density. Other good things are bonding time with baby and better immunity for baby. READ MORE

Fora a routine uncomplicated patient: Typical blood testing would include routine blood counts (CBC), antibody screening, glucose test. At 36 weeks a genital culture for group B streptococcus. Some patients may get a 3 rd trimester Fetal growth ultrasound. READ MORE
Which trimester is most important for the development of a fetus?
All are important but the early stages are what is most important for normal development to avoid birth defects. After the first trimester much of the development is mainly In growth. The fetal brain continues to grow and change even after birth. READ MORE
Can you get pregnant right after a miscarriage?
Yes. It is possible and it is ok to try. I usually tell patients after a first trimester miscarriage they can try after a month or the next cycle. READ MORE

Many times, patients will accidentally skip/miss a pill or start the new pack late. Other possibilities are if you were sick and being on certain antibiotics or medications. READ MORE
How many days after your period do you ovulate?
It depends on how long your cycle is. For most women with a 28 day cycle, ovulation occurs day 14 after the first day of the last menstrual period. Subtract 14 from cycle length and that is expected ovulation. For a 30 day cycle it would be day 16. READ MORE
How do I figure out when I am ovulating?
Easiest way is with an ovulation kit, however you can time it by subtracting 14 days from your cycle length. You can also chart your temperature with a thermometer. When you see a jump in your temperature over your baseline, that is a sign for ovulation-basal body temperature chart. READ MORE
