Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Hamid M. Nia, who serves patients in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Dr. Nia, a board-certified cardiologist, is affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. 

Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center is a 770-bed non-profit, research and teaching hospital providing tertiary and healthcare needs for northern New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. The hospital enjoys numerous clinical, research, and academic affiliations with world-renowned partners, as well as remains committed to the community through fundraising and community events such as its annual Life & Liberty event, health fairs, and Healthy Heart events.

Back in 1993, Dr. Nia earned his medical degree from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center. Following this, he completed his fellowship training in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Seton Hall University School of Health and Medical Sciences.

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the doctor is board-certified in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
