Get to know Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Thomas M. Chengot, who serves patients in Amityville, New York.

A highly trained interventional cardiologist, Dr. Chengot is affiliated with the Amityville Heart Center in New York. He specializes in adult congenital heart disease, echocardiography, and peripheral endovascular interventional cardiology, and is experienced in general cardiology, valvular heart disease, cardiac catheterization, and cardiac critical care.

Back in the early days of his academic career, he graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Westchester Medical Center in 2008. He completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at NYU Long Island School of Medicine, as well as a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the same institution.

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Chengot is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography, and Fellow of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (FASNC). He has also received certification as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).

In addition to his clinical role, he is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including NYU Winthrop Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center, Southside Hospital, and North Shore University Hospital.

As for his academic appointments, Dr. Chengot is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at NYU Long Island School of Medicine. He uses his extensive education and experience to provide the highest quality of care to his patients and stay at the forefront of the field.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

On a more personal note, Dr. Chengot attributes his success to his constant striving to improve and be better. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, with his favorite place to vacation being Hawaii. He is an avid golfer, and also enjoys long distance running, biking, and hiking.
