Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Amal Gubara, who serves patients in Virginia.

Dr. Gubara is a trusted pediatrician who works alongside Dr. Abdussalam Cheema, MD, at American Kids Care, PC.

American Kids Care, PC is a pediatrician group with offices in Annandale and Alexandria, Virginia, participating in the Children’s IQ Network Health Information Exchange – affiliated with the Children’s National Health Systems, Washington DC.

“We provide comprehensive Pediatrician services to infants, adolescents, and young adults that include preventative well child visits, sick visits, school physicals, sports physicals, and vaccinations. We provide complementary prenatal visits to meet your child’s future pediatrician and also to address any concerns ahead of time. Similarly, we offer a complementary newborn visit so that while the insurance paperwork is being processed, you have one less thing to worry about” as stated on their website. 

A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine University of Khartoum in Sudan, Dr. Gubara relocated to the United States to further her education. Once there, she performed her residency in pediatrics at Hurley Medical Center in Michigan.

With years of experience, she is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Locally, Dr. Gubara is affiliated with Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, the only freestanding children’s hospital in Virginia.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
