Born and raised in Nigeria, he graduated with his medical degree from the University of Ibadan College of Medicine in 1992. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship at Coney Island Hospital in 2005, before completing his residency in internal medicine at Overlook Medical Center in 2007. Finally, he completed his fellowship in geriatric medicine at the Cleveland Medical Center in 2008.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
