The physicians at First State Orthopedics provide both surgical and nonsurgical treatment for a variety of orthopedic conditions, and are specially trained in the current state-of-the-art techniques. They have become an integral part of the community in which they live. By devoting their energy and their time to many charitable causes, they have provided important assistance to those in the community who benefit most from their involvement.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Leitman earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and his medical degree from Boston University. He went on to complete a surgical internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Albert Einstein Medical Center, and a fellowship in sports medicine and knee reconstruction at 3B Orthopedic Institute.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

On a professional level, Dr. Leitman is a proud member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society, the Philadelphia Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Delaware Orthopaedic Society (Vice President).

In his professional experience, he serves as the Chairman of Orthopedics at Jennersville Regional Hospital, and is affiliated with Christiana Care. In the past, he has been affiliated with Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the DeWitt Army Hospital, both while in the US Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has also served numerous Team Physician appointments, including seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Flyers, and Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.
