Dr. Kallingal is a fellowship-trained urologic-oncologist currently in practice at the Dignity Health – Cancer Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. With an interest in minimally invasive surgery, he focuses his practice in treating prostate, kidney, bladder, penile, testicular, and adrenal glands cancers/malignancies. Dr. Kallingal is an expert in complex-open and endoscopic surgeries as well as sophisticated robotic surgery. With a focus on surgical quality improvement and compassionate patient care. He is on a mission to advance the field of urologic oncology. He is an Intuitive Da Vinci Console Surgeon certified by Intuitive Surgical.
Equipped with a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2005), Dr. Kallingal pursued his residency training in urology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He further advanced his training with a urologic oncology fellowship, which he performed at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (2012 – 2014). Prior to medical school, dr. Kallingal received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Michigan (1999), as well as a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health (2001).
Upon the completion of his training, Dr. Sun attained board certification in urology through the American Board of Urology. The mission of the American Board of Urology is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to insure the delivery of high quality, safe and ethical urologic care.

Dr. Kallingal has completed 15 years of active duty service in the US Army having served as Chief of Urologic Oncology at San Antonio Military Medical Center (2014 – 2020), among others. Moreover, he has been a faculty surgical educator for over eight years, during which time he has trained numerous residents. He has served internationally teaching robotic surgery and has published high-quality urologic research. Dr. Kallingal is an active member of the American Urologic Association and the Society for Government Service Urologists.
