Recognized as a highly trained colorectal surgeon, Dr. Visco specializes in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating the most common to the most complex in colorectal conditions and cancers. He offers preventive screenings, non-invasive treatments, and surgical procedures based on the needs of each patient.
Having joined General Physician, PC in partnership with UBMD Surgery, he currently sees patients at the offices in Williamsville and West Seneca, New York.
“One of the things that attracted me to the new group is that they’re a little more progressive. My prime focus in terms of colon surgery is robotic. I believe we do the highest volume of da Vinci robotic colon surgeries west of New York City within the state. That’s kind of the future of colon surgery. The advantages are tremendous. It took me a long time to adopt it, but over the past few years, we’ve seen huge advances in robotic colon surgery. And what it means for patients is enormous” expressed the doctor.
Established in 2010, General Physician, PC has grown to be one of the largest medical groups serving Western New York. It encompasses the region’s most well-respected, accomplished healthcare providers from many different areas of medicine, from general practitioners to highly skilled specialists.
In his current capacity, Dr. Visco also serves as the Associate Program Director of the Colon & Rectal Surgery Fellowship Program at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Surgery at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Science; and the Director of Surgical Services at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Locally, he is affiliated with Buffalo General Medical Center, Northtowns UBMD Surgery, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Buffalo Surgery Center, and Sisters of Charity Hospital.
Back in 1998, Dr. Visco graduated with his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He then went on to perform his residency in general surgery and his fellowship in colorectal surgery at the same educational venue in 2003 and 2004, respectively. He also received specialty training at UB affiliated hospitals.
As a testament to his success, he is board-certified in colon & rectal surgery by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties that issues certificates for practitioners of colorectal surgery.
A member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Visco has authored and co-authored articles for several medical publications.
Colorectal surgery is a field in medicine dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. On a more personal note, Dr. Visco has a wife, Lisa, and two stepchildren, Andrew and Gabriela. Outside of the office, he enjoys playing hockey and traveling. He is also a foodie.
