Jeffrey Nathaniel Watkins, MD, a distinguished physiatrist with dual board certifications, is proud to be a part of the esteemed team at Ochsner Hospital for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Ochsner Therapy & Wellness – Ochsner Fitness Center in Jefferson. With a focus on neurorehabilitation, Dr. Watkins enhances the healthcare landscape of Louisiana by offering specialized care for patients experiencing a variety of neurological and physical challenges.

Bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to Ochsner, Dr. Watkins specializes in treating conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, adult cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries. His multidisciplinary approach prioritizes personalized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient, ensuring optimal care and support throughout their recovery journey.

A graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Watkins earned his Medical Degree in 2010, laying the foundation for a career devoted to improving the lives of individuals facing neurological hurdles. He completed a one-year internship in internal medicine at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., followed by a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation and a brain injury fellowship at UT Southwestern. This extensive training equips him with the skills necessary to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services.

Since relocating to New Orleans in 2018, Dr. Watkins has been an integral part of Ochsner Health, currently serving at the Ochsner Select Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital on Jefferson Highway. He also manages a clinic within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at the Ochsner Elmwood location, where he evaluates patients for durable medical equipment, wheelchair mobility, spasticity management, and therapy assessments. In addition, he offers specialized evaluations for acute or subacute concussions, focusing on non-sports-related cases to ensure a holistic approach to patient recovery.
