Molitor, Jr., MD, FACS, FAAP, as the Director of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program. Dr. Molitor is a triple board-certified pediatric surgeon with a wealth of experience and a dedication to improving the lives of children in the community and beyond.
With a comprehensive background in pediatric surgery, Dr. Molitor Jr. specializes in areas such as childhood tumors, ano-rectal malformations, chest wall disorders (pectus excavatum repair), and thoracic lesions. His expertise extends to the entire spectrum of pediatric surgical care, making him a valuable asset to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Molitor is passionate about education and mentorship, actively training other surgeons, physicians from various specialties, and medical students.
A proud native of Arizona, Dr. Molitor grew up in the West Valley and completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at The University of Arizona. He graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson in 2002 and subsequently completed his surgical residency there. His commitment to advancing medical knowledge led him to undertake a two-year surgical research fellowship in Tumor Immunology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Molitor continued his training with a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care and ECMO at the University of Michigan / C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Utah / Primary Children's Medical Center, culminating in 2013.
Dr. Molitor is board certified in Pediatric Surgery, General Surgery, and Critical Care Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, underscoring his commitment to the highest standards of medical care.
In addition to his role at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Dr. Molitor is affiliated with several local healthcare facilities, including Phoenix Children's Specialty Care in Avondale and Glendale, Valleywise Comprehensive Health Centers in Peoria and Phoenix, Valleywise Health Medical Center, Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.
