Educated in the United States, Dr. McCarthy graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. She then went on to perform her residency in internal medicine at the same educational venue. 

A member of the American Osteopathic Association, she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults. 

Throughout her line of work, Dr. McCarthy has hospital and community-based practice experience caring for patients aged 16 through adulthood, including geriatric medicine in a community setting and in a skilled care and rehabilitation setting. She also works collaboratively with a team of other physicians, supervises advanced practice providers, as well as enjoys teaching and community outreach.
