Following his graduation, he relocated to the United States to complete a residency in internal medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Arizona Cancer Center. His post-graduate training at some of the nation’s leading universities equipped him with the knowledge and skills to excel in his field.

Before establishing his practice in Laredo, Dr. Miranda spent seven years in Arizona focusing on private academic patient care, clinical research, and education. He later joined a prestigious oncology group in Phoenix/Scottsdale, where he honed his expertise further. In 1999, recognizing the pressing need for quality cancer services in Laredo, he joined the local medical community.

Since his arrival, Dr. Miranda has been dedicated to improving patient care for individuals affected by cancer in Laredo and its neighboring communities, including Webb, Hebbronville, Zapata, and Hidalgo. His contributions to the field are noteworthy, as he has served in various leadership roles at Doctors Hospital of Laredo, including Chairman of the Cancer Committee since 2000 and Chief of Medicine since 2022.

Dr. Miranda’s credentials speak volumes about his dedication to surgical excellence and patient care. He is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), an organization committed to enhancing healthcare standards. Moreover, he is recognized as the youngest Fellow in Arizona state history of the American Oncology Physicians and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

His involvement in professional organizations underscores his commitment to ongoing education and the advancement of oncology and hematology practices. Dr. Miranda is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Southwest Oncology Group, the Texas Society of Medical Oncology, and the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group.

Dr. Miranda has also made significant contributions to cancer research, participating in numerous clinical trials. His efforts include Phase III randomized clinical trials for various malignancies and innovative studies on experimental agents for refractory solid tumors and hematological malignancies.

His dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed. Dr. Miranda has been recognized in the “Guide to America’s Top Oncologists” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, awarded “Excellence in Community Cancer Programs” by the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and honored with the “Super Doctor Award” by Texas Monthly Magazine. Additionally, he was named “Doctor of the Year” by the Cancer Research Network in Phoenix, Arizona.
