Get to know Pathologist Dr. Alexandre Vdovenko, who serves patients in New Britain, Connecticut.

A fellowship-trained anatomic pathologist, Dr. Vdovenko specializes in the study of bodily fluids and tissues. He can be found on staff at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, Connecticut.

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is a 446-bed, acute-care community teaching hospital with campuses in New Britain and Southington. It has a medical staff of more than 300 physicians, and a mission “to improve the health and healing of the people and communities we serve.”

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Vdovenko graduated with his medical degree from Dnipropetrovsk Medical Institute in Ukraine in 1985. Upon relocating to the United States, he performed his internship and residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and an additional residency in pathology at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. This was followed by a fellowship in surgical pathology at Hartford Hospital.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology through the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.

In his professional experience, Dr. Vdovenko is affiliated with the following hospitals and medical centers: Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Windham Hospital, Hartford Hospital, The Hospital of Central Connecticut- Bradley Memorial Campus, MidState Medical Center, Milford Hospital, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Griffin Hospital, and Bridgeport Hospital.

Pathology is a branch of medical science that involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of surgically removed organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and in some cases, the whole body. Pathologists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and management of diseases by laboratory methods.
