Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Christine M. Fleury, who serves patients in Washington, D.C.

A fellowship-trained pulmonologist, Dr. Fleury works at Pasquerilla Health Center, located within MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She is also affiliated with MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Her clinical areas of focus include asthma, bronchiectasis, bronchoscopy, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease, interventional bronchoscopy, lung cancer screening, lung mass, mycobacterial infection, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary sarcoid, sleep disorders, thoracentesis, and thoracoscopy. 

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Fleury graduated with her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2006. She then went on to perform her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2009 and 2012, respectively. 

Excelling in her field, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.
