Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Usha Gupta, who serves patients in Elyria, Ohio.

Dr. Gupta is a caring and compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist who is affiliated with UH Elyria Medical Center.

With almost 50 years of experience in her field, she specializes in neonatal-perinatal medicine, treating conditions such as breathing disorders, birth defects, infections, and any other life-threatening medical problems.

In regards to her educational background, Dr. Gupta earned her medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Ajmer in India in 1971. After relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in general surgery at Huron Hospital in 1979, and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Medical Center of Cleveland in 1982.

Known for her vast experience, she is board-certified in obstetrics & gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Practicing medicine in Ohio, Dr. Gupta is affiliated with Mercy Health – Jefferson Avenue Family Medicine, Mercy Health – Children’s Hospital, and Neon Southeast Health Center.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders that affect women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause. Additionally, they work with expecting mothers throughout their pregnancies, during childbirth, and into postpartum. 

As a testament to her excellent patient care, Dr. Gupta was awarded the Patients’ Choice Award in 2017.
