Get to know Neurologist Dr. Khaled M. Asi, who serves patients in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

As a highly trained neurologist, Dr. Asi’s primary areas of focus include neurointerventional surgery and vascular neurology. He is in practice with Advocate Medical Group Neurosurgery, which is a part of Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Licensed to practice medicine in Illinois, among many other states, he is affiliated with Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, and Advocate South Suburban Hospital.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Asi graduated with his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University in Syria. He then performed his residency in neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals. This was followed by a fellowship in critical care medicine at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and a fellowship in vascular neurology at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. Most recently, he completed a residency in radiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Committed to practicing medicine, he is board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology. Additionally, he is board-certified through the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
