Get to know Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Naginder Sharma, who serves patients in Burleson, Texas.

As a multi-board-certified interventional cardiologist, Dr. Sharma is currently in practice with North Texas Heart and Vascular in Burleson, Texas. He treats structural disease of the cardiovascular system, including coronary artery disease, chest pain, congestive heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, irregular heart rhythms, and high cholesterol. 

Prior to his current endeavours, he worked as a cardiologist for four years at Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson, Missouri, where he served as the medical director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory.

Practicing professionally in his local area, Dr. Sharma is affiliated with Texas General Hospital, Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South, and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne.

He has extensive training and experience in cardiac catheterization, techniques of complex coronary intervention, stenting, sophisticated diagnostic procedures, and many other professional skills.

After earning his medical degree from Indira Gandhi Medical College in India, Dr. Sharma received additional training in the United Kingdom, where he practiced for four years and obtained the prestigious degree of Member of the Royal College of Physicians. He then relocated to the United States, performing his internship and residency in internal medicine and his fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at Lankenau Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

With years of experience, the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

To boot, he is board-certified in adult echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography, and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.

Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Sharma is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of structural heart disease. Interventional cardiologists are cardiology subspecialists who are trained to place stents in clogged arteries to allow blood to flow properly and reduce risk of stroke or heart attack, as well as to repair holes in the heart or place special devices in the heart to help it function properly.

Among Dr. Sharma’s most notable achievements include Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018, 2016), Patients’ Choice Award (2018), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
