Dr. Canedo is a highly-trained cardiologist with more than three decades of experience in the treatment of heart diseases, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, arrhythmias, coronary disease, valvular heart disease, and congestive heart failure.
From protecting the heart against heart disease to healing it, he believes in spending time with his patients, from children to geriatrics, and creating their personalized heart health plan with them.
In affiliation with AdventHealth, he practices out of the following locations: AdventHealth Medical Group Heart Care at North Dale Mabry & AdventHealth Medical Group Heart Care at Tampa. He is also a proud founding member of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at AdventHealth Tampa.
Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Canedo graduated with his medical degree from Facultad de Medicina-Universidad Mayor de San Simon in Bolivia in 1970. He then relocated to the United States, performing his internship and residency in internal medicine at DMC Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 1972 and 1975, respectively. He also completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Medical College of Georgia in 1976.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
