Dr. Sanses is a board-certified urogynecologist & a specialist in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She serves as the Chief of Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery / Urogynecology at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She was recruited to Howard from the University of Maryland in 2017, where she had held a faculty appointment and launched her independently-funded research following completion of her clinical training.

Howard University Hospital, previously known as Freedmen’s Hospital, is a major hospital built on the site of the previous Griffith Stadium. A Level-1 trauma center, it provides top-tier inpatient and outpatient health care services in the Washington D.C. area, assuring that all patients receive quality medical care. 

Alongside her clinical role, Dr. Sanses serves as an Associate Professor within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Howard University College of Medicine.

Holding fellowship status, she is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and a Fellow of Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS).

Back in 1996, Dr. Sanses graduated with her medical degree from Belarusian State Medical University in Minsk, Belarus. After relocating to the United States, she went on to perform her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at First Clinical Hospital in 1998, and her internships in obstetrics and gynecology at Howard University Hospital and North Shore University in 2002. This was followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2009, and a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at Greater Baltimore Medical Center/University of Maryland Medical Center in 2009. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research from the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Urogynecology a specialized field of gynecology and obstetrics that deals with female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Urogynecologists are doctors who diagnose and treat pelvic floor conditions such as weak bladder or pelvic organ prolapse (when the organs drop because the muscles are weak).
