An exceptional rheumatologist, Dr. Lawlor is in practice at Canyon State Rheumatology, with offices in Phoenix, and Prescott, Arizona. He specializes in arthritis, bone diseases, and autoimmune diseases.
A family owned practice, Canyon State Rheumatology maintains a philosophy that doctor-patient relationships are important. Their mission is to provide compassionate care in a kind and respectful environment.
Born and raised in Arizona, Dr. Lawlor obtained a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with emphasis in Sociology and Chemistry from Arizona State University. Upon graduation, he moved with his wife and children to Kansas City, Missouri and attended four years of medical school, graduating with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
After graduating from medical school, he completed a three year residency in internal medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He then completed two additional years of fellowship training in rheumatology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. In his final year of fellowship, he served as Chief Fellow in Rheumatology and assisted in the teaching of residents working in rheumatology.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in rheumatology by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.
Developing a passion for teaching while in residency and fellowship, Dr. Lawlor has continued teaching and mentoring residents to this day from the Midwestern Internal Medicine Residency Program at Verde Valley Medical Center.
Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases and osteoporosis.
On a more personal note, Dr. Lawlor’s greatest joy comes from being a father and husband. He and his wife have six children which keep them on their toes.
