Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Alian Garay, who serves patients in Kingwood, Texas.

A seasoned general surgeon, Dr. Garay is affiliated with Bariatric and General Surgery of Kingwood. He believes in quality health care with excellent long term outcomes.

The mission of Bariatric and General Surgery of Kingwood is to provide the latest surgical innovations and quality care to patients and their families in Kingwood and the surrounding Houston communities. Their caring team strives to keep customer service priority one. They are committed to working closely with the patient and healthcare community to coordinate the very best care for their patients by maintaining close relationships with the hospital and related specialists to be kept fully abreast of each patient's progress.

A native of Texas. Dr. Garay attended elementary, middle and high school in Houston. He was in the military and then graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston. He earned his  medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston before completing his residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. Finally, he completed his fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at the Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Portland.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in general surgery and bariatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and other body systems. A general surgeon performs a wide range of surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and biliary disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.

On a more personal note, Dr. Garay lives in Kingwood with his wife and their two young daughters.
