Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Kelecia Brown, who serves patients in Concord, North Carolina.

A compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Brown is in practice with Atrium Health Women’s Care Maternal Fetal Medicine in Concord, North Carolina, which she joined in June of 2016.

Treating adults, she has a strong clinical interest in maternal cardiac disease as well as placenta attachment disorders. She is also actively working on developing a joint Obstetrics-Cardiac program with the Department of Cardiology.

A native of the Island of Jamaica, Dr. Brown completed her medical school education at New York Medical College in 2004. She then performed both her residency and fellowship training at New Jersey Medical School in Newark in 2008 and 2011, respectively. 

With a passion for her profession, she is board-certified in both obstetrics and gynecology & maternal-fetal medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders that affect women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause. Additionally, they work with expecting mothers throughout their pregnancies, during childbirth, and into postpartum. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Brown is married with identical twin boys.
