Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Hareesha Vemuganti, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

Well-versed in the field of hematology/oncology, Dr. Vemuganti is affiliated with Texas Oncology, seeing patients at their offices in Cedar Park and Round Rock, Texas. She strives to achieve the highest quality of patient care through practicing evidence-based medicine. 

Believing that an effective treatment plan begins with open communication, the doctor treats each patient as a whole person, respecting their individual beliefs, and tailoring their treatment accordingly. She ensures that her patients are well informed and she makes addressing their needs and concerns her top priority.

Born and raised in India, she graduated with her medical degree from the Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed her internship at Michigan State University, Hurley Medical Center, and her residency in internal medicine at the Crozer-Keystone Health System, where she was Chief Resident. Finally, she completed her fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the Drexel University College of Medicine, Hahnemann University Hospital.

Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Holding membership status, Dr. Vemuganti is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Medical Association.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

An authority in her field, Dr. Vemuganti has been recognized among Austin’s Top Docs in Hematology/Oncology by Austin Monthly in 2021.

On a more personal note, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her husband and two children. Speaking multiple languages, she is fluent in English, Hindi, and Telugu.
