Get to know Pain Management Specialist Dr. Basem A. Abdelfattah, who serves patients in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Abdelfattah is a board certified pain management specialist with Chronic Pain Relief in Dallas, Texas. There, he treats patients with back, joint, and musculoskeletal pain, while simultaneously helping them cope with lifestyle factors that contribute to their condition. Dr. Abdelfattah utilizes balanced pain medication regimens, injections and other interventions, as well as physical therapy to achieve substantial and long-lasting pain relief. 

Dr. Abdelfattah believes in treating pain not only as a physical concern, but as a condition that often has emotional and lifestyle components as well. His approach to managing chronic pain addresses the whole person, not just their symptoms. Patients and families have recognized Dr. Abdelfattah for his compassionate bedside manner and professionalism.

Dr. Abdelfattah earned his medical degree at Texas Tech University before completing a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain management at Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Abdelfattah is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). The ABA is one of the 24 medical specialty boards that constitutes the American Board of Medical Specialties. 

Dr. Abdelfattah has also been featured twice on Good Morning Texas, WFAA abc for pain management and minimally invasive spine techniques.

As a border medicine preceptor, Dr. Abdelfattah has worked with patients in underserved communities to determine the best way to meet their medical needs. He also volunteers with other community programs on a regular basis.

Pain medicine is a medical specialty that focuses on the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of pain. A pain management specialist, also known as a pain doctor or a pain specialist, is a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy who specializes in pain medicine. They specialize in the management of pain as a symptom of disease (eudynia) and primary pain disorders (maldynia). Furthermore, they treat patients who experience pain related to a specific cause (e.g., cancer pain, injury, postoperative pain) and patients who suffer pain as a primary condition (e.g., frequent headaches, neuropathic pain).

In his spare time, Dr. Abdelfattah spends time with his wife, son, and extended family throughout Texas. He is fluent in both English and Arabic and speaks conversational Spanish.
