Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Gerardo J. Moreira, who serves patients in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

A board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Moreira is in practice at Peak Behavioral Health in Santa Teresa, New Mexico.

Peak Behavioral Health is a private mental health hospital with a 119-bed acute care and psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF). They specialize in the treatment of adolescents, adults and seniors with mental health and chemical dependency needs. Their goal is to effectively treat their patients through individualized treatment plans that are tailored to each person’s unique mental health needs.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Moreira received his medical degree from the Medical School of Leon in Nicaragua. After relocating to the United States, he continued his education as a resident at Texas Tech University where he served as Chief Resident in 1991.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine (DABAM), and an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
