Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Usha S. Ram, who serves patients in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

A trusted obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Ram is a part of the team of specialists at Bloomfield Hills OB/GYN. It is a part of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, which is one of the largest healthcare networks based in southeast Michigan, United States.

In her local area, she is affiliated with St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital.

Academically, Dr. Ram graduated with her medical degree from Grant Medical College in India. She then relocated to the United States, performing an anatomic and clinical pathology internship, one year of an anatomic and clinical pathology residency, and completing an obstetrics and gynecology residency at North Oakland Medical Center. She followed this up with an additional residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the same educational venue. 

Specializing in women’s health, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Ram is a member of the Michigan Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Oakland County Medical Society, and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders that affect women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause. Additionally, they work with expecting mothers throughout their pregnancies, during childbirth, and into postpartum. 

Awarded the 2021 Top Doctor Award by Hour Detroit Magazine, Dr. Ram’s other achievements include Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2017, 2018), Top 10 Doctor – City (2014), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2016, 2017), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
