Delivering State-of-the-Art Cardiac Care to Adult and Geriatric Patients

Dr. Mock-Muhammad is an accomplished invasive heart failure and cardiology electrophysiology device specialist. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his multi-speciality integrated health clinic, HeartPLUS Diagnostic Clinic, located in Jackson, Mississippi. 

A native of Mississippi, Dr. Mock-Muhammad’s educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tougaloo College and a Doctorate of Medicine Degree from Meharry Medical College. His extensive training at institutions such as The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Meharry Medical College, and Vanderbilt University has equipped him with the skills necessary to excel in his field.

Dr. Mock-Muhammad has an extensive background in clinical research, including NIH-sponsored studies under Electrophysiologist Dr. James Martin at the University of Iowa Medical Center in 1993. He has conducted electrolyte patch clamp cardiac cell experiments with Dr. Mohit L. Bhattacharyya at Meharry Medical College. Additionally, he participated in clinical research with Dr. Theodore Addai at Vanderbilt University, focusing on the assessment of left atrial volume and its correlation to heart failure outcomes.

Board certified in cardiovascular disease and a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Mock-Muhammad is a dedicated member of various prestigious medical associations, including the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology,  the American College of Physicians, the National Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the Association of Black Cardiologists. His commitment to advancing the field of cardiology is evident through his participation in clinical research and his numerous lectures on various topics related to heart health and disparities in healthcare outcomes.

Attributing his success to putting God first, Dr. Mock-Muhammad took a unique path to becoming a doctor. Initially, he served as a soldier and flight medic with aspirations of becoming an electrical engineer. However, his experiences as a flight medic made him feel divinely guided towards a career in medicine. This shift allowed him to help others and provided his family with a new perspective on medicine, especially in light of his grandmother’s untimely death in her early 40s due to a doctor’s error.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Mock-Muhammad’s passion for serving the underserved has led him to serve as a lead physician on medical missions in both Haiti and Belize. His dedication to his faith, profession, and community continues to inspire those around him.
