His understanding and use of the highly sophisticated equipment found in the modern surgical suites are grounded in his background and education in engineering. In 1985, he earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by his fellowship in reproductive surgery at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, where he currently holds the position of Director of Residents.
In addition to being a board-certified Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Anding is a member of several professional affiliations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Having been a decorated athlete in earlier years, Dr. Anding was the first Louisiana State University student athlete awarded the National Collegiate Athletic Association All American Academic and Athletic honor and is a member of the Louisiana State University Athletic and Academic Hall of Fame. He maintains his athleticism by running, biking, water skiing and snow skiing. Additionally, he participates in numerous charitable events and has consecutively ridden the 185 mile MS 150 charity bike ride annually from Houston to Austin since 1997.
Outside of medicine, he frequently attends collegiate and professional sporting events where he proudly accompanies his wife and daughter who are the teams’ sports dietitians. He is equally proud of his two sons, one is a forensic scientist and chemist. The other son works in sports marketing having promoted the Summer and Winter Olympics.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics, covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, and gynecology, covering the health of the female reproductive system, the vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts. In 2007, he and his lifelong friends bought an abandoned historic Texas town that was founded in 1832. Since then, he has become an armchair Texan historian and the group has initiated the restoration of several buildings to bring life back to a long forgotten small country community.
