Fairhope, Alabama – A highly esteemed obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Nelson is committed to providing exceptional healthcare to women in Baldwin County at Fairhope Gynecology & Obstetrics. With over 30 years of experience in the field, his dedication to education and patient health has made him a respected figure in the community.

“Medicine has always been an interest of mine,” he states. “I chose obstetrics and gynecology because it encompasses medicine, surgery, pathology, and obstetrics but also has a strong emphasis on health. This specialty affords me the chance to educate patients about their health now and in the future.”

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Nelson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama in 1979, and earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1984. Following his medical education, he completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the same institution, where he also served as Chief Resident in 1988.

Board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology since 1990, he is an active member of several professional organizations including the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, the Baldwin County Medical Society, and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. His leadership roles, including Medical Director at Women’s Care Medical Center and member of its Board of Directors, showcase his commitment to advancing women’s health services in the region.

Among his other roles, Dr. Nelson is affiliated with multiple hospitals, including Thomas Hospital, Mobile Infirmary, Spring Hill Memorial, and the University of South Alabama, ensuring that his patients receive comprehensive care across various settings.

As a physician who prioritizes patient education and preventative care, he remains dedicated to empowering women with the knowledge they need to make informed health decisions.
