Certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he is the only board-certified and fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon between the Birmingham and Nashville areas. With years of experience in his field, he can also be found on staff at Decatur Ent Associates.
A 1994 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Dr. Light went on to complete his head and neck surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2000. He then returned to his alma mater in Chicago to complete a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery with the renowned Dr. Dean Toriumi.
Prior to opening his facial plastic surgery practice and joining Decatur Ent Associates, Dr. Light served at the University of Florida as Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and as Director of the University Aesthetic Center. In his capacities at the University of Florida, he performed hundreds of advanced facial plastic and reconstructive surgeries, as well as trained other plastic surgeons.
To obtain dual board certification, the skilled doctor completed a rigorous examination process, including peer review. In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he maintains membership status with the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Medical Association, the American Head and Neck Society, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, the Alabama Medical Society, and the Morgan County Medical Society.
