Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Rajesh Bindal, who serves patients in Sugar Land, Texas.
An exceptional neurosurgeon, Dr. Bindal established his private practice – Texas Spine & Neurosurgery Center – in 2001 in the Texas Medical Center. In 2005, he moved his practice to Sugar Land and became the first full-time neurosurgical practice in Fort Bend County.
Maintaining a special interest in advanced neurosurgical techniques, he has pioneered new surgical techniques in minimally invasive spine surgery and cervical artificial disc replacement and is considered one of the most experienced surgeons in Texas in these areas.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Dr. Bindal received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University in Chicago and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in medical school. He then went on to complete 6 years in residency training in neurological surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS), the doctor is board-certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.
Among his other roles, he played a key role in the development of the Methodist Sugar Land Spine Center and served as Director of the program from 2009-2013. As the demand for expanded neuroscience service lines grew in Fort Bend County, he was a key leader in the formation of the Methodist Sugar Land Neuroscience Program and served as the Surgical Director from 2013-2017. He also served as President and Vice-President of the Fort Bend Medical Society.
With a passion for teaching, Dr. Bindal holds an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, cervical and lumbar disc disease, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.
