  • Why do I have ear tip pain?

    Options are focal neuralgia, post-traumatic, post-UV exposure. If you have sensitive skin, use sunscreen. Ibuprofen may give you relief, also topical cortisone preparations. Wear a hat outside. READ MORE

  • Ear infection?

    You need to have an ENT look at the ear with a microscope. He/She can clean to ear canal of debris and have look at the eardrum. Depending on what they find, a wick may be inserted in the ear canal, you may be prescribed ear drops, and told to keep ear dry. Stop using Q-tips forever if you do use them. No chemical sprays near ears. You can use OTC 3% peroxide. Get an ear dropper and fill the canal before you take a shower. Run the hot water in. Can repeat, but not advised to do so repeatedly as this can cause ear canal irritation. If you do not have a history of an ear drum perforation, this is will be safe. best to see ENT. Go to any University center that has ENT residents. We are the only doctors who have the right equipment. READ MORE

  • I'm experiencing throat lumps?

    Looks like either normal Fordyce granules (0il glands) or diffuse herpetic lesions. Cannot be certain without seeing in person. If the former, you probably have a viral pharyngitis. If the latter, valacyclovir will help READ MORE

  • Do I have strep throat?

    Most sore throats in your age group are viral. Check if their are any clusters of white debris on tonsils. Could be strep. Mononucleosis is also common in your age group. If not better in 2-3 days, or if worse sooner, see your medical doctor or ENT READ MORE

  • Sore throat?

    Does not look like strep or mono. Probably viral. READ MORE

  • Neck and eye pain?

    Need to see a neurologist and have EMG and Nerve conduction studies. Appears to be cervicogenic pain. READ MORE

  • Cough that won’t go away?

    Can not opine on causation lacking further information. You need to have a chest Xray or CT scan. See an internist. Probably have pulmonary function tests. Obtain sputum cultures. Reflux or other esophageal pathology is a possibility. Have any inhalant allergies? Been out of the country in the past year? READ MORE

  • Why am I getting a red booger in my nose every time I blow it?

    Probably have minor anterior nasal septal slow bleeding site. See ENT for nasal exam and cautery. READ MORE

  • Ear pain?

    Need to see ENT for examination, ear cleaning, whatever else is indicated READ MORE

  • Chesty cough?

    Limited information. Any pre-existing lung issues, e.g. smoking, asthma, industrial exposures, etc. Need to drink at least two quarts of water a day. Get Robitussin with any cough suppressants. See MD for chest exam and possible antibiotics. Could be walking pneumonia, i.e. mycoplasma. Augmentin or zithromax may help. READ MORE

  • Uvula discomfort?

    If her uvula is elongated, she can have it surgically shortened in a brief office visit. Shortened not total excised. See ENT. READ MORE

  • Should I tell my ENT if I have chest pains?

    I would. He/She is still a doctor who can listen to your chest, take vital signs, feel your pulse. Unless you have documented cardiopulmonary disease, the likelihood of a serious problem is improbable. More likely musculoskeletal. READ MORE

  • I have throat pain?

    Probably have dysfunction of your upper esophageal sphincter. Cough means you have intact sensory function. See ENT for endoscopy and possible modified barium swallow. READ MORE

  • Sinuses?

    First, you should be drinking two quarts of water a day. No smoking or alcohol. You can purchase OTC. Humabid which will thin-out these secretions. Have your MD write an Rx for Atrovent nasal spray, and use as directed. See ENT for nasal exam and history of your nasal problems. HE/She will determine if other measures are indicated.   • Is my eardrum ruptured?

    Appears that you have been seen by your local medical doctor, and not by an ENT. Need to see an ENT for microscopic ear exam, cleaning, and potential treatment. READ MORE

  • Povidone iodine nasal spray?

    Better to read some articles before doing this. Just type it in the browser. or go to PubMed. One article in the "Ear, Nose and Throat Journal" stated its use neutralized to Covid-19 Virus and others. Another was an article about an ongoing double blind study. Still best to get vaccinated and observe mask precautions and frequent hand washings. READ MORE

    See a dermatologist for prednisone therapy. Pulmonary and ENT appts. may be indicated. READ MORE

  • Blocked nose?

    Best to see an ENT MD. Will check for rhinitis, mass lesions, anatomical obstruction, polyps, etc. Vasomotor rhinitis is common in your age group. Atrovent nasal spray may be of benefit READ MORE

  • Hearing loss?

    You can have low pitched mechanical tinnitus from TMj, not hearing loss. READ MORE

  • Stains on my tongue?

    Bismuth contain solutions can discolor tongue. Also mouth breathing. Also fungal infections. Advise brushing tongue with baking soda. If the black spots are scattered could be benign melanosis READ MORE
