Dr. Purohit was recruited to the DoD, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital to help develop a clinical and research program. He has served as the Chief of Medical Services and currently serves as the CMIO and Chief of Research. During his time period, he has helped develop a unique model of care that seamlessly interweaves integrative medicine with traditional care in an interdisciplinary fashion for TBI and psychological health. Additionally, Dr. Purohit has been working to develop a transcranial magnetic stimulation clinic for FBCH for a wide range of disorders including depression, sleep dysfunction, and chronic pain. Current protocols investigate topics including the stress response, sleep dysfunction, yoga, meditation, and cardiovascular health (in those with TBI and/or PTSD). As Chief of Medical Information, Dr. Purohit has worked within the DoD to develop a product that could capture and process data in real time for provider use, aggregate the data for both individual and population analyses (big data), and incorporate both outcomes and interventions into the same database to improve clinical processes and flow, business plans, and most importantly, patient outcomes and satisfaction.
