Harold J. Wanebo, MD, FACS, is a surgical oncologist currently working within his own private practice and at Roger Williams Medical Center in Rhode Island and is also affiliated with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He obtained his medical education from University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine in 1961 and went on to complete surgical training at the University of California, San Francisco and a tumor immunology residency at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Harold holds over 50 years of experience with an extensive background in surgical oncology, consultations and follow ups. He also spent two years serving in the US Army. Harold is certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and created the surgical oncology program at the University of Virginia. When not serving patients, he engages in international public speaking and has over 100 published peer reviewed articles and 6 books edited. Additionally, in order to stay up to date on medical advancements in his field, he remains a professional member of the American Head and Neck Society, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
