Is it okay to have pain 10 days after implant surgery?
Yes and no. Depending on the extent of the surgery, the procedures performed, whether there was extraction, bone grafting, sinus augmentation involved, you can have some residual pain or soreness for upto 2 weeks. In any case, you should contact your dental office so they can assess if anything major such as an infection, a complication is developing or to rule out early implant failure; or if they need to prescribe some other medications. Can you remove stains from crowns?
Superficial stains can generally be removed. However, sometimes what may appear as stains to an untrained eye (eg: patient) may actually be tooth crown wear, crown porcelain chipping or even secondary caries/ decay at the junction of the crown and remaining tooth. As a rule most dental surgical procedures have some component of post-operative pain after the procedure, however, patients are always prescribed medications after the procedure to help with post-operative recovery. Can I get a dental crown in 1 week?
Typically, a crown can be done in about 5-7 days, but it also depends on whether the tooth is fractured and/or needs a root canal. If your dentist is comfortable doing root canal for molar teeth and uses modern technology like digital scanning, then 1 week turnaround time is possible. Are these crackling sounds in my ear from TMJ?
You will need to see a team of specialists that include an Oral surgeon and a prosthodontist who treats patients with TM joint problems, and maybe an ENT specialist. In general cracking or popping sounds are normal and about 45- 55% people have them. As long as they are not painful or show any other symptoms, nothing needs to be done there. Yes, typically we do follow-up for denture patients, every 6 months or every year. They look for fit, support, stability, resorption of residual bony ridges and occlusion with the dentures. What are the advantages and disadvantages of zirconium dental crowns?
Zirconia crowns can be color matched with the teeth and are one of the strongest materials know in dentistry. However, sometimes they may be difficult to match color especially with the front teeth, and are prone to debonding/ coming off the tooth if the teeth preparations are not designed well or if the correct bonding/ cementing protocol is not followed. This is a very open ended question: Veneers are great options for restoring great esthetics, an amazing smile for the right patient, These are usually ones with discolored teeth, chipped teeth, flourosis, hypoplasia, or patients with smaller teeth and generalized spacing. It involves minimal to no prep on the surface enamel and bonding lab-manufactured pieces of ceramic on teeth that build a beautiful looking esthetic smile.
