Get to know Speech-Language Pathologist Ms. Lindsay G. Meyer, who practices in Ellington, Connecticut.

Ms. Meyer is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist and the Founder of More Than Just Words, LLC. Her mission is to give people their independence through accomplishing their speech, language, and swallowing goals.

Based in Ellington, Connecticut, More Than Just Words Speech Therapy, LLC focuses on working together to enhance communication, voice, cognitive, and swallowing abilities across the lifespan, including verbal and non verbal communication. The practice helps people regain their confidence and independence across all aspects of language and communication.

In order to provide the best quality intervention, Ms. Meyer is a strong believer in a client-centered approach with individualized treatment. She is very passionate about helping others and collaborating with clients, families, caregivers, and other professionals involved.

Her interest in becoming a speech-language pathologist came during her high school years when she was diagnosed with vocal cord dysfunction. When Ms. Meyer met with a speech-language pathologist, she felt like her life was given back to her. Learning different breathing exercises and techniques alleviated the symptoms and attacks of vocal cord dysfunction.

Academically, she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Connecticut State University and went on to earn her Master’s Degree from Mercy College in Westchester, New York.

With experience in working with children and adults from birth across the lifespan, Ms. Meyer has served clients in the home setting, schools, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and private clinics.

Speech-language pathology is a field of expertise practiced by a clinician known as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) or a speech therapist. SLPs treat and diagnose speaking disabilities. They help patients with articulation, stuttering, fluency, the rhythm of speech, and more. Additionally, they may treat patients who have difficulty with language and social skills. Patients see SLPs for a variety of reasons, including relearning language after an accident, overcoming a voice disorder, enhancing social communication skills, as well as improving speaking clarity.
