Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Lisa Monahan, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Dr. Monahan is a cardiologist & a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. She is a part of Capital Health Heart Care Specialists, operating out of the offices in Pennington and Hamilton, New Jersey.

The team of board-certified cardiology experts at Capital Health Heart Care Specialists are highly trained in interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, and preventive cardiology. They work with primary care physicians and other specialists to provide residents throughout Mercer, Bucks, and Burlington counties with the advanced health care they need, including state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostic equipment to help promote heart healthy living.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Monahan graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford. After performing her internship and residency in internal medicine at Kennedy University Hospital/Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, she completed her fellowship training in cardiology at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey.

A leader in her field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.

Furthermore, she is board-certified in echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography, and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. 

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Monahan is also an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

In her professional experience, Dr. Monahan has presented research at the Heart Rhythm Society and Deborah Heart and Lung Center. She has also provided cardiac and basic health screenings and medical education to underserved populations in New Jersey. 

On a more personal note, she is fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
