Get to know Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Nicholas Mechas, who serves patients in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A knowledgeable oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Mechas is a cleft lip and cleft palate and craniofacial surgery fellow in OKC. His areas of expertise include cleft lip and cleft palate surgery, craniofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma and fracture repair, and head and neck infections.
Growing up in Kentucky, he was fortunate enough to be accepted into the University of Louisville Early Admission to Dentistry (ULEAD) program his senior year of high school. While attending the University of Louisville (UofL) for undergraduate education, he was involved in pre-dental and student government positions as well as currently being an alumnus of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He stayed at UofL for dental school, graduating cum laude with his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree in 2016.
After a one year non-categorical internship at University of Illinois Chicago under Dr. Michael Miloro, Dr. Mechas matched at Temple University OMFS. Under the guidance of his attendings at Temple, including Dr. Paul Deitrick, Dr. Joseph Mulligan, Dr. Samer Abdelsamie, Dr. Brian Smith, Dr. Carl Bifano, and Dr. Allen Fielding, he has been able to expand his research and publication endeavors into areas of anesthesia, bone healing and reconstruction, and orthognathic surgery. Dr. Mechas is currently training in cleft and craniofacial surgery fellowship with Dr. Kevin Smith and Dr. Paul Tiwana.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

The oldest of four children, he is thankful to his family for all the support they have and continue to provide.
