Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Prashanti Logeswaran, who serves patients in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Dr. Logeswaran, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, is committed to the highest quality of care in all aspects of women’s health. With a focus on gynecologic surgery, she practices at Women’s Care Florida at the offices in Downtown St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg – Tyrone. 

Women’s Care Florida is a specialty women’s health physician group offering patient care in obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, gynecologic pathology, breast surgery, and genetic counseling. The group has 360 healthcare providers who care for more than 350,000 patients annually, performing 20,000 deliveries per year and conducting more than 450,000 obstetrical, preventive, and gynecological visits yearly. Women’s Care Florida has more than 100 outpatient locations across Florida and the organization has grown tremendously through the years by remaining true to its mission – “Improving the Lives of Women Every Single Day.”

Pertaining to her educational background, Dr. Logeswaran earned her medical degree from the University of Essen School of Medicine in Germany. Her training in the Cellitinnen Hospital in Germany allowed her to better understand the needs of patients from various cultures and different ethnic backgrounds. She also received an Award for Excellence in the teaching and clinical practice of obstetrics and gynecology by nursing and midwife students.

From there, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York with an Outstanding Resident Award for best clinical skills and compassionate care for patients. She learned advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery and now provides these minimally invasive options to her patients who need surgery.

In addition to her residency program, Dr. Logeswaran was a Research Fellow at Boston Medical Center for Advanced Research. Following her training, she became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Logeswaran enjoys long-distance running, having competed in the New York marathon twice.
