Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Rasheed R. Zaid, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

Dr. Zaid is a highly-trained cardiologist who has been in practice since 2010. He is currently a part of the team of professionals at Vital Heart & Vein with offices throughout the state of Texas.

His patients say Dr. Zaid takes time to listen, ask questions and have a real conversation with them. They describe him as thorough, knowledgeable and personable. He treats coronary artery disease, heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias), congenital heart defects, and other coronary conditions.

Among his hospital affiliations include Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital and Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center.

A native Houstonian, Dr. Zaid obtained his undergraduate education at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He later completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital, followed by his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center.

With special interests in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology, Dr. Zaid is board-certified in internal medicine and  cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Holding fellowship status, Dr. Zaid is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart and circulatory system. Cardiologists assess, diagnose and treat a variety of conditions including coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias and congenital heart disease.

Successful in his field, Dr. Zaid has authored an article for the “Journal of the American College of Cardiology,” titled “Preoperative and Postoperative Diastolic Dysfunction in Patients with Valvular Heart Disease: Diagnosis and Therapeutic Implications” (November 2013).
