Get to know Licensed Clinical Social Worker Roberta Ketchum, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Roberta, a licensed clinical social worker, is the owner and operator of Westheimer Psychotherapy Center in Houston, Texas. With more than three decades of experience in her field, she treats individuals, couples, and families in emotional crises or individuals who want to work on personal growth issues.

Dedicated to guiding patients toward a healthier path, her areas of interest include individual and couples / marital therapy, parent/child relationship issues, child or adolescent issues such as school performance, self-esteem or social relationship issues, gay and lesbian issues, as well as individual issues such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behavior, adult children dealing with aging parents, loss or bereavement.

Before opening the doors to her private practice, Roberta served as a Psychotherapist at Hauser Psychiatric Associates (June 1975 – February 1987), and as the Head Clinical Social Worker of the Psychiatric Unit at Fairhill Mental Health Center (January 1972 – June 1975), where she treated acutely mentally ill patients, providing individual, family and group therapy, as well as planned aftercare services for the individual patient.

As for her academic career, she holds a Bachelor of Social Work from The Ohio State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Boston University. 

Social work is an academic discipline and profession that concerns itself with individuals, families, groups, and communities in an effort to enhance social functioning and overall well-being. A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) works with patients in order to help them deal with issues involving mental and emotional health. There are a wide variety of specializations the LCSW can focus on, including mental health issues, substance abuse, public health, school social work, medical social work, marriage counseling or children and family therapy.
