i have puberohonia (female voice, pitch break, etc)?
Hi. I hope I am able to accurately answer your question. Some exercises I use with patients that display puberphonia are as follows: You can try: 1) Humming down the scale starting the with high pitch and keep scaling down to the lowest pitch possible. Sustain that lower pitch as long as you can. 2) Sustain a vowel sound while lowering your thyroid cartilage...this is the part on your neck where you would find your adam's apple. Massage that area and pull it down. Pull it down while sustaining any vowel. These are just two that I tend to use most often but there are others you can research. I will attach and article for your reference. Best wishes! http://www.laryngologyandvoice.org/article.asp?issn=2230-9748;year=2012;volume=2;issue=1;spage=26;epage=29;aulast=Desai;type=3 READ MORE
At what age should a delayed child start speech therapy?
Your child can start speech therapy at any age. Speech Pathologists can see infants and beyond. There is no age minimum to start speech therapy. If you believe your child has a delay, I would recommend going to an SLP to get a full speech/language evaluation so that they can determine if your child is delayed and to what severity level. He/she will be able to recommend and write goals that are appropriate for your child. Typically, I start seeing kids as young as 1 year, 8 months and if you feel your child is still showing a delay by age 2, then absolutely start speech therapy right away!!! But if you feel like now is a good time to start that is entirely up to you. The earlier, the better!! READ MORE
My daughter speaks very loudly, should we visit a speech-language pathologist?
I am just wondering. Has she ever had a hearing screening or audiological evaluation done by an audiologist? I'm wondering if she speaks loudly because she is compensating for not hearing others/herself enough...I'm not sure if this is the cause but it can be. I would get a hearing screening or a hearing evaluation first before seeing a Speech Language Pathologist just to rule that out. READ MORE
How can you teach speech therapy at home during the coronavirus?
Many practices have teletherapy options. Your child can receive speech therapy through an online therapy platform. It works similar to zoom or any videoconference software that allows the therapist and child to see one another. The therapist can also share their screen, share documents and materials, and interact in the same way that they would interact with the child if they were in a live session. READ MORE
Are any communication devices used for speech therapy?
Absolutely! There are a number of different devices used for speech therapy! Some of the most common ones I've used are programs on an ipad device such as 1) Proloquo2go 2) TouchChat 3) SnapCore As far as devices, there are low tech, mid tech, and hi-tech devices available. It all depends on the client and what their needs are for what the appropriate device to use would be. READ MORE

How do I do speech therapy at home because of covid-19?
Hello. Your son can have speech therapy online via teletherapy services. Many practices offer teletherapy where the the speech therapist can do a session via a live videoconference-similar to skype or zoom. Many practices have licensed and verified speech therapy telehealth platforms where they can offer services online in this way. This method allows the therapist and child to still be able to see each other and work together. The therapist can also share their screen and share documents and materials with these online platforms. READ MORE
