In 1981, Dr. Iqbal graduated with his medical degree from the University of Ibadan College of Medicine in Nigeria. Upon relocating to the United States, he performed his residency in psychiatry at NYC Health + Hospitals / Harlem in New York City, and his fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.

Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

An author of many peer review articles and guest editor of journals, Dr. Iqbal has presented his research nationally and internationally. He is also an actively sought speaker and has presented over a thousand lectures, traveling widely within the United States and as far as Japan and Australia. He is frequently sought as a consultant and advisor by other psychiatrists, medical colleagues, multinational companies, as well as academic institutions.
