Asima Bajwa, MD, a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma and cataract surgery, is reshaping the landscape of eye care in Maryland. Following her graduation, she completed her residency in ophthalmology at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she excelled as Chief Resident, honing her skills and preparing for a successful career.

Her quest for excellence continued with a prestigious glaucoma fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by a uveitis clinical research fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye Research & Surgery Institute under the mentorship of the renowned Dr. Stephen Foster. This extensive training has equipped Dr. Bajwa with a wealth of experience that she leverages in her practice, allowing her to provide the highest standard of care.

As a board-certified ophthalmologist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan, Dr. Bajwa has amassed profound experience in her field. She previously served as a glaucoma research coordinator at the University of Virginia, where she actively participated in clinical trials under the guidance of Peter A. Netland, MD, PhD. 

Dr. Bajwa is a committed member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Ophthalmological Society. Her dedication to advancing the field of ophthalmology is evident through her research contributions, with over 25 scientific publications to her name. She is also a highly sought-after speaker at regional, national, and international conferences, sharing her insights and expertise with the global medical community.

Beyond her clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Bajwa is deeply passionate about humanitarian efforts. She volunteers with Humanity First, USA, and participates in international ophthalmology missions to underserved countries like Guatemala and Burkina Faso, where she provides essential eye care to those in need.
