About
Here at OCEANN ENT (Orange County Ear, Allergy, Nose, and Neck) we offer comprehensive services for Ear, Nose, and Throat conditions with a Sub-Specialty Focus in Rhinologic conditions, especially those requiring extensive expertise in Sinus Procedures and Surgeries. Patients can count on personalized and compassionate care whether they have a sinus infection, ongoing allergies, Eustachian tube dysfunction, ear infection, throat disorders, or any other ENT problem. Evaluation begins at the initial phone call where our highly trained staff can assess patients’ current situation and schedule them with the most effective provider to best manage their presenting symptoms. The Sinus Surgeon and CEO/Founder of OCEANN ENT, Dr. Kathy Yu-Syken, has personally trained her PAs (John Vincent Enverga, PA-C and Stephanie Cho, PA-C), who will be evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients starting at their initial visit in order to most efficiently coordinate patient care. Although Dr. Yu-Syken will mostly be performing In-Office Sinus, Nasal, and Eustachian Tube Procedures due to the high volume of demand for her surgical proficiency, she will also still be available for more complex cases for consult, and to directly assess cases which may benefit from Sinus Procedures. Although Dr. Yu-Syken always begins with the most conservative treatment that's best for each patient's needs, she specializes in Minimally Invasive and CT-guided Sinus Procedures such as In-Office Balloon Sinuplasty that are effective, don't need an incision, and produce long-lasting relief from conditions such as chronic sinusitis.
In addition, Dr. Kathy Yu-Syken is also the CEO/Founder of SinusReLeaf Natural Sinus Rinse, a Patent-Pending Hemp-based Sinus Rinse Formulation that harnesses the synergistic effects of Cannabigerol (CBG) and Xylitol to provide anti-microbial protection for delicate nasal mucous membranes while reducing sinus inflammation naturally.

Does chronic sinusitis need surgery?
Yes. When maximal medical management fails to improve the symptoms of chronic sinusitis, sometimes a procedure called Balloon Sinuplasty may be necessary to restore the normal anatomic drainage and function of the sinus cavities. To decrease sinus inflammation naturally, you can try a CBD or CBG sinus rinse such as SinusReLeaf (https://www.sinusreleaf.com) READ MORE
Can a sinus infection go away?
It is possible for a sinus infection to resolve naturally with a Sinus Rinse solution that irrigates out the microorganisms that propagate infection in the sinus cavities. A good one to try that also alleviates sinus inflammation is SinusReLeaf Natural Sinus Rinse (https://www.sinusreleaf.com). Other remedies include antibiotics, steroids, decongestants, but these medications can cause side effects sometimes. When a sinus infection becomes chronic (lasting longer than 3 months), it becomes harder to get rid of, and sometimes a Sinus Procedure may be necessary to restore the normal drainage and function of the sinus passages. What medications help with sinus infections?
Sinus infections (Sinusitis) refer to inflammation of the sinus cavities. There are a variety of antibiotics or steroids that can be prescribed to help treat infection but an alternative that naturally alleviates symptoms of sinus infections is Sinus Rinsing/Irrigation, preferably with my innovative Patent-Pending SinusReLeaf Natural Sinus Rinse, which contains herbal ingredients such as CBG/CBD and Xylitol for anti-microbial protection of delicate nasal mucous membranes, in addition to decreasing sinus inflammation as well. Check it out at https://www.sinusreleaf.com! READ MORE
How long does it take for a sinus infection to go away with antibiotics?
It depends on if the infection is bacterial or fungal. A simple Nasal Culture under Nasal Endoscopic guidance can differentiate between the two. Complementary use of Sinus Rinse in addition to antibiotic treatment may expedite recovery and is a natural alternative for Sinusitis (Chronic Inflammation from Infection in the Sinus Cavities). Check out my innovative Patent-Pending Sinus Rinse Formulation SinusReLeaf at https://www.sinusreleaf.com! READ MORE
Antibiotic for sinusitis in pregnancy when allergic to PCN
Augmentin may be harsh on the GI tract and can cause a pretty bad rash in those who may be penicillin allergic, so I would recommend a simple 5 day low-dose course of azithromycin 250mg orally with food daily instead, since you have had a sinus infection for only a short time. However, you do need to be aware that azithromycin is also in the macrolide family of antibiotics so if you had a rash with clarithromycin in the past then it could potentially happen with azithromycin as well. The 250mg daily dose is low though, and not as strong as the full clarithromycin dose so if the rash is very mild, it is worth trying (some hydrocortisone cream can ease the itching of a mild allergic rash in addition to an antihistamine). The sinus rinsing helps tremendously and in the 3rd trimester you can add a nasal steroid spray such as Nasonex for Flonase for reduction of mucosal inflammation in the nose and sinuses. It is normal for you to experience significant nasal congestion especially in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy when estrogen levels are high (even I had it too!). Hope that helps. READ MORE
