Get to know Family Physician Dr. Suparna Chhibber, who serves patients in Texas.

A trusted family physician, Dr. Chhibber is the Owner of Houston Family & Geriatric Medicine, serving Memorial, Spring Branch, Katy, Cypress, Sugarland and Houston Harris county areas in Texas. It is nationally recognized, as a patient-centered medical home, for meeting and exceeding all care quality measures.

In her MDVIP-affiliated practice, her goal is to provide highly personalized healthcare to not only manage and treat chronic diseases like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and heart disease, but also to prevent them with evidenced-based lifestyle approaches and health coaching. She also offers conveniences, like same- or next-day appointments that start on time, which may be found in concierge medicine practices.

Educated in India, Dr. Chhibber graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College. She then relocated to the United States, performing her internship and residency in family medicine at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. She also completed her fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Attaining Diplomate status, she is board-certified in family medicine & hospice and palliative medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Offering compassionate care focused on prevention, Dr. Chhibber is affiliated with Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, Houston Methodist West Hospital, and West Houston Medical Center.

Her clinical interests include gynecological procedures, allergic rhinitis, Alzheimer’s disease, amenorrhea, anemia, angioedema, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, and bone spurs.

Since 2010, Dr. Chhibber has been serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.

Likewise, she has been involved with the Texas Family Medicine Preceptorship Program since 2010, and serves on the Commission on Health Care Services and Managed Care of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (2019-present).

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP), Dr. Chhibber is an active member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Society.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

Among her published works, Dr. Chhibber has authored 7 chapters on Swanson’s Family Practice Review: 6th Edition. She has also authored 2 chapters on the American College of Physicians Handbook of Women’s Health.

Honors bestowed upon her include the Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018, 2013, 2012, 2011).

On a more personal note, Dr. Chhibber speaks several languages, including English, Hindi, Urdu, and Bengali.
