2041 Georgia Ave, NW, Tower 4th Floor, Suite 4000 Washington DC, 20060About
Dr. Noor Malik practices Neurological Surgery in Washington, DC. She is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with subspecialty expertise in neuro-oncology across both adult and pediatric populations. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Howard University Hospital, where she is committed to advancing care for patients with brain and spine disorders through precision surgery, translational research, and academic collaboration.
Her clinical focus includes the management of intrinsic brain tumors involving eloquent cortex—particularly gliomas, brain metastases, ventricular tumors, and extra-axial lesions such as meningiomas. She is proficient in a wide range of advanced neurosurgical techniques, including awake craniotomy with motor and speech mapping, intraoperative ultrasound, 5-ALA fluorescence-guided resection, laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT), radiosurgery, and focused ultrasound.
In addition to her neuro-oncology work, Dr. Malik also treats brain and spine trauma, as well as degenerative spine conditions. She is also trained to treat disorders as spinal canal stenosis, herniated discs, tumors, fractures, and spinal deformities, among many others. Her approach integrates both minimally invasive and complex spine techniques tailored to each patient’s needs.
Dr. Malik completed her neurosurgical residency at Aga Khan University Hospital, followed by a CAST-accredited fellowship in Neurosurgical Oncology at Mayo Clinic. She further completed dual Pediatric Neurosurgery fellowships at Children’s Hospital Colorado and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, broadening her age-inclusive and multidisciplinary expertise in brain and spine surgery.
Her academic and research interests center on translational neuro-oncology, including clinical trial development and regenerative approaches to brain tumor therapy. At Mayo Clinic, she collaborated with the Neuro-oncology Clinical Studies Lab to study glioma outcomes, and she is actively involved in research on CSF proteomics, microdialysis, Ommaya reservoir-based drug delivery, and neoadjuvant immunotherapy.
Dr. Malik is an active member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS). Her long-term goal is to lead an academic brain tumor center that integrates high-level clinical care with cutting-edge research and neurosurgical education.
