Get to know Dr. Jharendra P. Rijal, who serves patients in Hartford, Connecticut.

A Connecticut-based Hospitalist  Dr. Rijal is in practice at Hartford Hospital. He can also be found on staff at Midstate Medical Center and Hospital Of Central Connecticut. 

Hartford Hospital, founded in 1854, one of the largest teaching hospitals and tertiary care centers in New England with perhaps the region’s busiest surgery practice, has been training physicians for over 160 years. The hospital is an 867-bed regional referral center that provides high-quality care in all clinical disciplines.

A native of Nepal, Dr. Rijal earned his medical degree from Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine in 2009. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Staten Island University Hospital in 2013.He served as an academic Hospitalist, and clinical faculty at The Miriam Hospital in Rhode Island, a major affiliate of Brown University Medical School until 2017. He has been serving the greater Hartford community since 2017.

Dr. Rijal is a compassionate physician who is described by his colleagues and patients as a person of high dignity and moral value who always strives for rendering the best clinical care. He is frequently cited for his humanistic quality, humility, and professionalism. He is a strong follower of the holistic approach and evidence based medicine. 

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
