Flat feet are common in the population and has been shown to give no serious long-term medical problems for the patient. However, it's best to try to keep your feet from getting worse. So, the easiest thing to do is to buy some "off the shelf" shoe inserts which provide good arch support. Here's my recommendation: Don't go barefoot or wear house slippers or flip flops. Buy shoes that have good arch support, even though they may be more expensive. Always have shoes with good support every time your feet hit the floor. Finally, get some arch supports from any big box store.

The answer is, it depends. If you have a specific level of disease and you have tried a very long course of nonsurgical treatment that has failed, then yes, the spinal fusion would be the next step. However, if you have multiple level disease or have not tried nonsurgical treatment, then I would advise trying nonsurgical treatment before any surgery.

You feel something like a tennis ball hitting you on the back of your leg. You are unable to push your foot down to come up on your toes. There may be a defect or gap you can feel where the tendon should be located. Go see an orthopedic surgeon, because if it is torn, most of the time it needs to be surgically repaired for optimum functioning.

Could be any of a number of reasons. If they are new, then it takes 2-3 months to get used to them. They may not be custom or formed properly to your feet or you may have the wrong orthotic for the problem that you have. Are they "off the shelf"?? Although more expensive, the best results for orthotics are ones that are custom formed for your feet and for the proper diagnosis. See an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot problems, not a podiatrist.

I know PT is a pain and it is expensive. The main thing is to let the spine heal, especially if it is a fusion. After 8 -12 weeks, it is time to get the spine muscles strong again. If you are motivated you could do it at home. However, most people are just not tough enough to do it alone, so go for a few sessions at least and learn what you need to do at home. Then do the exercises every day at home.

Bursitis is an inflammation of tendons or more specifically the covering of tendons in the body. There is no conclusive scientific evidence that any foods increase bursitis. However, gout is an inflammation of certain joints of the body. There are foods that can increase the chance a gout inflammation attack.

Certain foods such as red wine, chocolate and red meat can increase the chance of having a gout attack. I would suggest to you that you would void those things just to see if it makes any difference in your bursitis. A trial of one month should be sufficient.
