Chronic ankle pain is approached with a detailed history, exam and any past imaging and or new imaging if appropriate because the cause determines the treatment and future outcomes.
There are many modalities to help increase function and decrease chronic pain, they will differ by the cause, the individual and what their or in this case your goals are.
Chiropractic alignment of the whole body can relieve excessive stress on an ankle if it is indicated. Physical therapy, at home movements to regain range of motion are two more modalities. And looking at any nutritional deficiencies that may have prevented better healing, and a decrease of inflammation. This last piece, inflammation is the cause of pain, so when we can sleuth out what in the daily movement or lack there of, diet, nitrifying, presence of scar tissue, or other issues is contributing to the inflammation then a course of care either as self care or in office care is put together.
